In fact, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports African Americans have the highest prevalence of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias for those 65 and older. Let's get back to the basics by learning the facts around Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. What is it? How are people affected? What is being done to stop this disease? Dementia Friendly Tempe Annual Summit

Join us at the free 4th annual Dementia Friendly Tempe Summit to learn from the local scientific, medical and community experts why there is hope now and in the future. Scientist at Arizona State University’s Banner Neurodegenerative Research Center are making new discoveries in identification and prevention methods that may end Alzheimer’s disease in the coming decade. The Tempe community and city government are championing the cause of people with dementia and their care partners. They are living successfully in their own community through efforts of the city’s Dementia Friendly Tempe program supported by Banner Alzheimer’s Institute. Join us for a Banner Brain Health Program (BBHP) Train-the-Trainer Workshop! Banner Alzheimer’s Institute (BAI) is looking to train volunteers interested in improving the brain health of community members. Volunteers will learn how to facilitate a 2 ½ hour Brain Health Program. Content of this program will review lifestyle factors that may delay the onset of Alzheimer’s disease and teach a variety of methods to exercise cognitive domains of the brain; which includes language, attention, executive function, memory and visuospatial skills. Alzheimer's Awareness - Shine A Light On All Dementias
